Can I retake the Wolverhampton PHV test?

This is the outcome to avoid at all costs: your application is voided, and you must wait 12 months before you can start again. That means a full year without your badge — a year of lost earnings if you were counting on driving — and then starting the whole application and training process from the beginning, including paying again.

How much does failing cost?

Each attempt costs around £50 for the training course and test combined, and there's no discount for resits — every attempt is paid in full. Fail twice and you've spent roughly £150 to reach a final, must-pass attempt. Compared with that, the time spent preparing properly before your first attempt is by far the cheapest part of the whole process.

Why do most drivers fail?

There are only two ways to fail, and both are avoidable:

• Scoring below 21 out of 28 (75%) — usually a sign of not covering the full syllabus, or not practising under timed conditions.
• Getting a key question wrong.
