Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") explain the rules for using the PHV Prep UK app ("the app"). The app is run by John Akhis Moreno, an individual based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under it.
1. What the app is
PHV Prep UK is an independent study aid for private hire ("taxi badge") licensing tests set by the councils listed in the app.
We are not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by any council or licensing authority. We can't issue licences, book tests or process applications.
2. No guarantee of passing
The app helps you prepare. It does not guarantee that you will pass any test, or that you will be granted a licence. Your result depends on you and on the council's own assessment.
3. Council rules come first
Councils change their rules, fees, test formats and conditions from time to time. We work to keep the app up to date, but our content may sometimes lag behind a change. If anything in the app differs from your council's own guidance, the council's guidance is always correct. Check your council's website before you apply or sit a test.
4. The AI Tutor
The AI Tutor gives automatic answers generated by an AI service provided by Anthropic. It can make mistakes, and its answers are not legal advice. Don't rely on it for decisions about your licence, your rights or the law; check with your council or a qualified adviser. How the AI Tutor handles your messages is explained in our Privacy Policy.
5. Premium
- Premium is a one-off purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks Premium for every council in the app, including councils added later, for as long as we offer the app. If we ever decide to close the app, we'll give you at least 3 months' notice in the app.
- We won't take away the main things Premium includes: full access to the question bank, unlimited mock exams and the higher AI Tutor limit.
- Payment is taken by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms. We never see your card details.
- Refunds and your right to cancel are handled by Apple or Google under their terms and the law. If a purchase is refunded, Premium is removed from the account.
- You can restore Premium on a new device or a new account with "Restore purchase", using the same Apple or Google account you bought it with.
- The features of the free version, and its daily limits, may change over time.
Your statutory rights are not affected. Under UK consumer law, digital content you pay for must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If Premium is faulty, contact us at support@yongchivo.com and we will work with you, and with Apple or Google, to put it right.
If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content you own, and that happened because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
6. Your account
- You need an account to use the app. Keep your password safe and don't share your account with anyone else. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- You must be 18 or over to use the app.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Preferences → Delete account and enter your password. What we delete and what we keep is explained in our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- share your account, or sell or give access to it;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, republish or sell the questions, answers, explanations or guides, in any form;
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools with the app;
- try to get around the daily limits, Premium checks or security features;
- misuse the AI Tutor, for example by trying to make it produce harmful or offensive content, using it for purposes unrelated to your exam, or sending large volumes of messages automatically;
- use the app in any way that breaks the law or harms other people.
8. Suspending or closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account if it is used in a serious or repeated way that breaks these Terms, for example sharing an account or copying the question bank. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to explain. This does not affect your statutory rights.
9. Our content
The app's questions, answers, explanations, guides, design and branding belong to us, or are used with permission. Laws, the Highway Code and council documents remain the property of their owners; our questions and explanations are our own work based on them. Some content is based on public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You may use the app for your own personal study only.
10. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that:
- the app is a study aid, and we are not responsible for decisions you make based on it, including decisions about applying for, or sitting, a test;
- we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the app;
- we are not responsible for loss of income or earnings, for example if you don't pass a test or your licence is delayed.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for good reasons, such as new features or councils, a change in the law, or to keep the app secure. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and we'll tell you in the app before a significant change applies. If you don't agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. A change won't take away anything you've already paid for.
12. Law and contact
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and your local consumer law applies.
If you have a question or a problem, email support@yongchivo.com.
13. Privacy
How we collect and use your data is explained in our Privacy Policy: https://yongchivo.com/phv-prep-uk/privacy/
